Lake Oroville Dam & Visitors Center Oroville Dam is one of the largest earth fill dams in the world and is over a mile long. The visitor’s center tells the story of how the dam was built and has many interesting Indian artifacts. Lake Oroville is a large, state recreation area with camping, fishing and boating.

Chico has an interesting collection of shops and restuarants downtown and is home to the picturesque campus of California State University – Chico, all within walking distance. Bidwell Mansion State Park, the historic Stansbury House, and the Chico, Museum are all within or next to the downtown area. Bidwell Park begins a few blocks away.
