Puppy Head Start
is for pups 18 weeks to six months old. It is an introduction
to the skills the dog will need to know, to be ready for more advanced, Gun dog
training. We have found that people often don't know what to emphasize in their
early training and many puppies are poorly started. Some people don't do
anything at all thinking that at least they will not be doing the wrong things. Head Start is designed to help you and your pup develop into a successful
hunting and retrieving team.
The cost is $350.00 for the two week program, due
when you drop off your pup. Dogs stay at the kennel during their training and are
housed in individual runs. We feed Purina Pro Plan Performance diet which
is a top rated dog food and is suitable to meet the needs of your active,
growing puppy. Your one on one, pre scheduled, owner training session is
included in the fee. The pups are worked individually and their training starts
on the day following their arrival.
| At Hightest, we strive to provide a high quality, positive learning experience for dogs and their owners. |
The puppies are started on basic obedience, to walk
at heal, and sit on a leash. They will be worked on retrieving on both land and
water. For many this is their first introduction to water and swimming. We
also introduce them to retrieving birds and accustom them to the gunshot.
We promise

your dog as

At the end of two weeks when you come to pick up your dog, we will spend
approximately an hour working with you and your dog together. We will instruct
you on what to work on at home to prepare your dog for more advanced training.
This training is designed to educate you on how to get the most out of your
early training sessions with your pup, during this critical stage, of rapid
development. Often, poorly started pups will be unsuccessful in their later
training.
